They're back! After a 17-month hiatus, Trans-Tasman Gibberish returns with Matt and Adam reunited across the ditch, and absolutely nothing has changed. They're older, arguably uglier, definitely not wiser, and still more than happy to tell the world exactly what they think.

In this comeback episode, the boys have plenty to catch up on, starting with the state of Australian politics, Donald Trump, the cost of living and whether packing up and moving to Bali might actually be a reasonable life decision. Naturally, the conversation takes a few unexpected turns, including shark attacks, dodgy hips, dodgy knees, weight loss, meal preparation and the rising price of a supermarket barbecue chicken.

But it wouldn't be Trans-Tasman Gibberish without a massive serving of rugby league.

With the NRL finals approaching, Matt and Adam dive headfirst into the state of the game. Is the NRL expanding too quickly? Are the Perth Bears and Papua New Guinea Chiefs good ideas? Has Peter V'landys lost sight of what rugby league supporters actually want?
The boys debate the Bunker, controversial rule changes, the salary cap, player recruitment and whether the modern game has lost the physicality that made rugby league great. There's plenty of discussion about the Manly Sea Eagles, New Zealand Warriors, Penrith Panthers and the Brisbane Broncos, alongside some strong opinions about the game's administrators and commentators.

And just when you think they've exhausted their sporting grievances, attention turns to Australian cricket. Marnus Labuschagne's selection comes under scrutiny, while the discussion surrounding Will Pucovski's concussion settlement sparks a passionate debate about player safety, personal responsibility and the risks of professional sport.

Throw in Adam's infamous squeaky chair, plans for a New Zealand State of Origin reunion, some questionable movie recommendations and enough swearing to make a sailor blush, and you've got a proper Trans-Tasman comeback.

Seventeen months away, almost an hour of gibberish, and they've barely scratched the surface.
