GIVEAWAY 18

OVERVIEW

I break down the biggest fantasy basketball busts in points leagues for Yahoo and ESPN, focusing on where ADP and rankings don't match player value or role changes. This episode will help you avoid overvalued picks and spot the traps that can sink your draft in fantasy basketball points formats.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

• Tyrese Maxey and Kevin Durant are being ranked too high for standard points leagues relative to their past production and new season context.
• Tyrese Haliburton is being overvalued in points leagues; his skillset and injury concerns make a third-round projection more realistic than first-round.
• Chet Holmgren and Donovan Clingan are risky second- or third-round picks in points leagues and could lose your league if chosen at those inflated ranks.
• Trey Murphy and Kon Knueppel get inflated by 9-cat appeal, but their points league value isn’t as strong as their ranks suggest.
• Desmond Bane and Mikal Bridges are outside the top 50 in real points value but are being pushed prematurely into earlier rounds.
• ESPN’s default points rankings consistently overrate players like Jalen Johnson, Jalen Brunson, Trae Young, and Donovan Mitchell—don’t chase last year’s production blindly.
• Draft success and smart waiver wire pickups contribute most to winning leagues; playoff schedules should only come into play as a tiebreaker or late in the season.
• Rookie ADPs are often too aggressive relative to their uncertain minutes and roles, making them risky payoff bets at their current draft price.
