John Fourcade Was In The Grove | "There Was No Purple In That Stadium" | Florida -3 over Ole Miss
Description
Every Ole Miss preview this week is going to tell you the Rebels got disrespected by a betting line. That's the shallow version. John Fourcade was standing in the Grove on Saturday night, and the thing he noticed had nothing to do with the scoreboard: there was almost no purple and gold in that stadium. Ole Miss beat LSU 32-24, John David Baker gutted a defense nobody had actually tested, and now the Rebels go to Gainesville as underdogs against a Florida team whose own head coach was visibly stunned to be favored.
Five days to Florida. Saturday, 3:30 ET in the Swamp.
Steven Willis is joined by Ole Miss legend John Fourcade for an eyewitness account of the biggest weekend Oxford has had, a breakdown of the first-half game plan that exposed LSU, an honest look at why the third quarter keeps happening, and the full SEC Week 4 board.

📌 THREE THINGS
1. Fourcade was there, and the detail he led with was the absence of purple. He described a town so full that cell service and Wi-Fi stopped working, a Grove at capacity, a record crowd — and not much LSU in it. He also reported the thing nobody covered afterward: no incident, on either side, all night.
2. The first half was an offensive coordinator's game, not just a quarterback's. Fourcade's read on John David Baker: put the linebackers and safeties in coverage on the slot and go to work on those matchups. Louisville had already shown Ole Miss where its own soft spots were. LSU had not been challenged by anyone, so nobody had shown them theirs.
3. The third quarter is a pattern now, not an accident — Louisville, Charlotte, and LSU. Fourcade's explanation is structural: a defensive-minded head coach takes a lead, turns the pressure down, and tries to win with the defense. The fourth quarter worked because Ole Miss went back to playing the way it played in the first.
