136: Life Lessons From a Homeschool Mom

Episode 136 Published 1 day, 6 hours ago
Description

We’re in our HOMESCHOOL ERA! Anyone else find themselves doing something unexpected and realizing that pivot just led to a bunch more pivots?

As a former teacher of 15 years I shouldn’t be so surprised, but I never expected to be homeschooling our son in middle school. Yet, here we are making the most of it and currently studying the BEATITUDES in the Bible!

So many life lessons to glean from those verses. While I did detour briefly in this episode to talk about perimenopause, the heat melting my nip covers when trying to batch record podcast episodes, and a shoutout to my bestie and her mom honoring the passing of their sweet Jock, I did manage to bring it back to some biblical teachings.

If you’re down for a rollercoaster listening experience, I’m glad you’re here. Please pass this on if you have a friend who might be going through a pivot too!

Highlights:

(04:22) - Homeschool week two and we were already one inconvenience away from losing it on each other

(08:10) Plot twist: apparently hosting a podcast about pivoting means God gives you LOTS of opportunities to practice

(12:11) Sometimes the wrong shoes ruin the day. Sometimes it’s perimenopause. Sometimes it’s both.

(16:12) From Bible to boobs

(24:28) The apology tour begins: how Duke and I stopped spiraling and chose peace instead

(32:42) Bad morning? Fine. Bad life? Absolutely not. We can pivot!

Mentioned:

The Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-10
