Houston Cougars stumble in Big 12 thriller, falling short against Texas Tech as crucial offensive decisions spark debate. Can Houston unlock its potential before the season slips away?

The conversation focused on why the Cougars abandoned the run game despite early success behind standout performances from Shadre, Anthony Boswell, Makhi Hughes, and Re'Shaun Sanford. A key theme that emerged was missed opportunities—costly false starts, critical red zone play calls, and a pivotal fumble shifted momentum. The discussion explored how Khalil Laufau anchored the defense and whether PFF analytics reveal deeper strengths or exposed concerns, especially in the pass rush and explosive plays allowed. Several points were raised, including Amare Thomas’s impact, Pat Overmyer’s reliability, and how Houston can address game management issues moving forward. Will the Cougars adjust their strategy ahead of their next test against Georgia Southern, or are these growing pains here to stay?
