Description

Who is Simon Mitchell?

Simon Mitchell is the founder of Green Laurels, creating handmade eco-friendly products for the home and body. His range includes home fragrances and cosmetics made with carefully selected natural ingredients, with a strong focus on sustainability and reducing potentially harmful ingredients.

Simon was initially looking to create a product-based business as he wanted to move away from photography.

The idea actually came from Santa! Simon worked in a Santa’s Grotto at Christmas 2019, and it was Santa who suggested the idea of an eco-friendly bathroom products-style business.

Simon was interested in the idea, as nature had always been important to him. Alongside the portraits he photographed professionally, he had always enjoyed photographing landscapes, animals and the natural world.

His passion for the environment also connects back to a round-the-world trip in 2004, when he saw the huge Kauri trees in Australia. During the trip, a guide explained how vast areas of forest were being cleared and the wood sold to Japanese paper companies. Although trees were replanted, Simon learned that the chemicals and poisons used in the process could destroy the original ecosystem. New trees might eventually create another forest, but the ecosystem that had existed before could be lost.

These experiences helped shape Simon’s motivation to do his part to help the Earth by creating natural, eco-friendly and sustainable products for people and their homes.

For Simon, it simply feels like the right path.
