Your Excuses Are Feeding Your Addictions

Your Excuses Are Feeding Your Addictions

Published 3 weeks, 2 days ago
Description

What if the excuses you keep making are actually helping build the very habits you’re trying to break?

In this episode of Fast Forward Mindset Podcast for Personal Growth and Motivation, I get real about my own journey with excuses and addiction.

I share some of the excuses I used to explain my behavior—including telling myself I was the “black sheep,” believing I wasn’t intelligent, and convincing myself that my wife didn’t love me the way I wanted to be loved.

The problem wasn’t simply the circumstances. I was using those circumstances as excuses, and those excuses became fuel for unhealthy patterns in my life.

The more excuses we make without taking ownership, the easier it becomes to stay stuck. Eventually, those excuses can create a cycle that keeps us in the same predicament and causes our lives to spiral.

So how do you start breaking the cycle?

I share three steps that helped me:

  1. Take ownership.Stop giving your circumstances complete control over your choices.
  2. Find awareness.Become honest about the excuses, thoughts, and behaviors that are keeping you stuck.
  3. Find Jesus.Turn to Christ for guidance, strength, and transformation.

You may not be able to change everything that happened to you, but you can begin changing how you respond to it.

Stop feeding the excuse. Start building the life you want.
