Battleship NC Lights Up for Air Force | Wilmington News
Description
This Friday, the Battleship North Carolina will glow in U.S. Air Force colors to celebrate its 79th birthday — a dazzling light show starting at sunset on Sept. 18, visible from Riverwalk, parks, and across the Cape Fear River. Honoring the branch responsible for air, space, and cyber defense since 1947, the memorial’s executive director Jay Martin says it’s a tribute to current and past service members. A longtime supporter of all military branches, the memorial continues to spotlight our armed forces with powerful events and exhibits.
