Episode Details

John C. Vara, a devoted Marine veteran and beloved community pillar, passed away at 61 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Newark, NJ, he served with distinction in Somalia, Afghanistan, and Iraq—both as a Marine and later as a contractor—and later trained Osprey pilots from Japan. Beyond the battlefield, he gave back tirelessly: volunteering at food pantries and therapeutic riding programs for children with special needs, all while raising his family in Hampstead. Remembered by his wife, five daughters, grandson, and extended family, John’s legacy lives on through his service, compassion, and unwavering love.
