25-34 Year Olds Have Lowest Attendance Rate At Mass
Published 1 week, 4 days ago
Description
Just 13% of 25- to 34-year-olds in rural Ireland attend Mass weekly, according to a new Ipsos/B&A poll, despite 57% of people saying they consider themselves religious.
At the same time, priest shortages are forcing changes to parish life and prompting renewed calls for a greater role for women and lay people in the Church.
To discuss what these figures tell us about the future of the Catholic Church in rural Ireland, Alan Morrissey spoke with by Bishop Fintan Monahan, Bishop of Killaloe earlier this morning.
