JURY DUTY: California Seniors Can Permanently Opt Out
Description
The Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park grew rapidly to 1,177 acres with 0% containment as of Sept. 16, 2026. The fire is burning north of Chilnualna Falls, has forced trail closures, and remains under investigation.
Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a new law that will allow certain elderly Californians to obtain a permanent exemption from jury duty instead of repeatedly requesting excuses every time they receive a summons.
