Teens charged over mistaken identity murder of Marco Tapia
Published 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Description
Two teenagers aged 14 and 16 have been charged with murder over the mistaken identity shooting of biomedical engineering student Marco Tapia during a home invasion at his Glen Alpine home on 1 September. The boys, both from Fairfield, were arrested after leaving a trail of evidence and have been refused bail until at least November. In response to rising organised crime involving youth, the New South Wales government has introduced new laws targeting underworld kingpins who recruit minors, with offenders charged in planning murders facing life in prison and minors charged with shootings and firebombings to be tried in adult courts.
