Back to EpisodesCFO Corner Week 37: Should You Get a Financial Advisor?
Description
Financial advisors get a bad reputation — "expensive," "salesy," "not for me yet." But we pay for expertise everywhere else in our lives: a trainer, childcare help, a house cleaner, a therapist. Why should financial advice be any different? This week, Meghan breaks down when it's actually time to hire one (and when it's genuinely fine to keep DIY-ing it), why "fiduciary" is the only word that really matters, how the different fee models (AUM vs. flat-fee vs. monthly retainer) actually compare in dollars, and why you should interview more than one before you choose.
This week's action: decide if you need a single answer or a whole plan, pull two or three names from a fee-only fiduciary directory, set up intro calls with at least two of them, and ask each one directly how they're paid.
