Canada & Europe: What Is Carney Signing Us Up For?
Season 2
Episode 156
Published 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Description
Today on Scott Fox After 9, Scott breaks down Mark Carney's speech to the European Parliament and what his proposed new relationship with Europe could mean for Canada. Despite previously distancing himself from the idea of Canada becoming an associate member of the EU, Carney's speech outlined a much deeper relationship with Europe than he originally let on.
Scott asks the big question: What would this new arrangement allow Canada and the EU to do that we cannot already do? Canada already has a free trade agreement and extensive defence cooperation with Europe, so what changes now?
Scott shares his concerns about where the Prime Minister is taking Canada and gets you caught up on Carney's speech without having to watch the whole thing.
