Just my luck

We say “Just my luck” when something unlucky or inconvenient happens, especially when the timing feels almost ridiculously perfect.

Example:

Imagine you’re taking a long train journey.

You get on, and the carriage is almost empty.

Perfect.

You find a quiet seat by the window, put on your headphones, and think:

“I might actually get some sleep.”

At the next station, a large group gets on.

There are empty seats everywhere.

And where do they sit?

Right beside you.

They spend the next two hours laughing, talking, opening bags of snacks, and watching videos on their phones.

You look around at all those empty seats and think:

“Just my luck.”
