Dr Joe Takes On McBride in Delaware | Wilmington News
Description
In a surprise twist, Delaware Republicans have tapped political scientist Dr. Joe Arminio to challenge Rep. Sarah McBride in November — the first openly transgender congressperson and a two-term incumbent. Arminio, who beat the party’s endorsed candidate and last year’s pick, is banking on economic anxiety, citing soaring prices and crushing debt as key issues. With Democrats holding this seat since 2008, Arminio faces an uphill battle — but the primary was just the beginning of a fierce race to flip one of the nation’s most historically Democratic districts.
