2458: 1 Million Bitcoin Reserve Moves Forward as Congress Takes Up 20-Year Hold

Episode 2458 Published 1 month ago
Description

The U.S. House Financial Services Committee is taking up H.R. 8957, the American Reserve Modernization Act, as America's Strategic Bitcoin Reserve moves back into the center of the Bitcoin conversation. The legislation addresses long-term government Bitcoin holdings and examines budget-neutral strategies for acquiring additional BTC, while a 20-year holding requirement could keep government reserve Bitcoin off the market for decades.

The markup comes immediately after the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act in a 49–50 procedural vote. Michael Saylor says progress doesn't have to wait for Congress, expecting banks to expand Bitcoin custody and loans against BTC while additional capital favors Bitcoin. We break down what happens if America moves from simply holding seized Bitcoin toward strategically accumulating more.
