Ca$h Carter has been a Crip since he was 8 years old. Growing up in New York City with his father out of the picture, his mother battling addiction, and a foster mother raising him, the Harlem Crip set became the family he found in the streets. More than 20 years later, Cash has cycled through juvenile detention, Rikers Island, and multiple stints in New York State prison. He survived Rikers as a Crip, navigating gang politics, violence, and the realities that come with carrying that identity behind the wall.
