Mary Smith, a teacher in the Minneapolis school district, and her attorney, Andrew Parker — who helped her get her job back — joined Liz Collin on her podcast.
Smith spoke about getting caught up in a perfect storm of cancel culture, woke ideology, hypocrisy, and anti-white racism in the Minneapolis school district back in September of 2025.
Smith accurately reported student misconduct, which included the student's use of the N-word. The student's behavior was not addressed by the school district. However, Smith was terminated — despite district policies and state law that prohibit retaliation for reporting student misconduct.
Parker explained that he hoped the district would avoid arbitration and reconsider what he called "outrageous discipline for Mary reporting what she witnessed, not reporting anything but what she witnessed, quoting what she witnessed."
Parker also explained how Smith was ultimately reinstated with full pay, benefits, and no loss of tenure.
