Evening Edition: Houthi Rebels Target Saudi Arabia and Red Sea Oil Routes

Published 11 hours ago
Description

Iran-backed Houthi rebels continue to seize territory in Yemen and now have captured strategic islands around the area of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean. Commercial shipping through Hormuz remains deeply disrupted and the Houthis could cause it to completely shutdown. The rebels have also picked up attacks on Saudi Arabia causing the kingdom's East-West Pipeline to be shut off as a precaution, surging oil prices by 2%.

FOX’s Eben Brown speaks with Behnam Ben Taleblu, senior director of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies' Iran Program, who says this is Tehran trying to open another front in the conflict and regain control of the Strait of Hormuz.
