Susan Shapiro Barash is the author of over a dozen nonfiction books, including Tripping the Prom Queen and Toxic Friends, and taught gender studies for more than twenty years at Marymount Manhattan College. 

Writing fiction as Susannah Marren, she's the author of A Palm Beach Wife, A Palm Beach Scandal, and Maribelle's Shadow, which won the 2022 Firebird Book Award.Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Elle, and she's appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, and MSNBC.

In 2021, she received the New York State Assembly Member's Exceptional Leadership Award. She's served as a panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts and a judge for the International Emmys.
