The Venus-Pluto Cycle of 2026 — A Story Told in Squares | Astrology Ride of the Day
Description
The Venus-Pluto cycle plays out under the shadow of the 5 of Swords — a field after the fighting, where nobody walks away looking like they won cleanly. It opens with a conjunction at 3° Aquarius in January, moves through a sextile, a waxing square in Venus's home sign of Taurus, a trine, an opposition in Leo forcing the mirror of a partner, and a return trine in Libra — before landing today in the hardest beat yet: Venus in detriment in Scorpio, squaring Pluto back at that same 3° where the story began, with none of her usual charm to hide behind. The cycle closes in December with a final square where both planets move direct, no retrograde left to retreat into, asking not "what is this" anymore, but "what am I choosing." Know thyself. Balance your energy.
Takeaways
- The full cycle traces one repeating degree — 3° Aquarius — from the January conjunction through a June opposition in Leo, an August return trine in Libra, and finally today's waning square with Venus in detriment in Scorpio.
- Today's square is the hardest beat of the year: Venus has none of her usual sign-based comfort in Scorpio, though Pluto still sits in the decan that belongs to her, meaning she has ground to stand on even stripped of charm.
- The question evolves across the cycle — January asks "what is this?", October's retrograde return asks "what did this mean?", and December's final direct square asks "what am I choosing?" — with nothing retrograde left to hide behind.
- The cycle closes not with Venus claiming victory, but with her leaving the battlefield carrying what the fight actually cost her — the resentment, the forced mirror, the two returns to the same degree — rather than the swords themselves.
