Snowtown killer freed; Freak accident charges laid; Snooping health employee reprimanded
Published 2 weeks, 6 days ago
Description
James Vlassakis, one of the perpetrators of South Australia's notorious Snowtown murders, has been granted parole after more than 25 years in prison. Vlassakis pleaded guilty to four of the 11 murders committed between 1992 and 1999. The parole decision has been met with strong opposition from victims' families and the Attorney-General, who argued he remained a risk to the community. Criminal charges have been laid over a freak accident which left a 12-year-old CBC student Javale Morato fighting for his life. He was hit in the head by a hammer throw ball at Clearview in 2024, with the school potentially being fined up to $1.5 million. An SA Health employee has been reprimanded for snooping on the private medical records of Crows legend Tony Modra.
