Fifteen children found living alone in Port Hedland
Published 2 weeks, 5 days ago
Description
Fifteen children, including two aged five and six, were discovered living alone in a house in South Hedland, with their parents allegedly leaving them to fend for themselves for extended periods. The Department of Child Protection had received complaints from neighbours and police over a long period but did not intervene. Premier Roger Cook defended the department's actions while the Minister for Child Protection travelled to Port Hedland to investigate and also met with grandmother Dorothy Papertalk, whose grandchildren were killed by their mother in 2022.
