178: Lindsey Lockett: Stop Chasing Calm, It's Keeping You Stuck
Description
Access Kelly's Turn On Training here.
Most people chase a state of calm and relief… but what if that’s the wrong goal?
Lindsey Lockett is a trauma integrator and relational weaver who woke up to her own healing hamster wheel inside a psych hospital.
Lindsey spent a decade chasing perfect gut health, perfect sleep, and perfect everything. Then her psych hospital stay following a suicide attempt in March 2019 showed her the bone broth, the supplements, and the perfect protocols were not what she actually needed.
Lindsey names something most people skip: the pregnant pause after you tell the truth. It’s the moment the other person's face shifts and their trained instinct wants to soften what you said, so they do not have to feel it. She defines authenticity as embodied allegiance to yourself under pressure. She is clear that it is not a boundaries speech or an ego trip about not caring what anyone thinks.
She also explains why she’s moving away from polyvagal theory as the dominant framework, why calm is only one configuration of the nervous system, and how integrity has to sit underneath any expression of truth.
If you have felt more fractured after years of nervous system work, not less, Lindsey's take will land.
