Knox County Drug Court, ahead of Saturday's Quarter Auction — 'you have to want to do this'
Published 1 week, 3 days ago
Description
Bring quarters — that's the premise of Knox County Drug Court's third Quarter Auction, set for 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1556 E. Fremont St. in Galesburg, with bidding starting at 5 p.m. Ahead of the event, Olivia McCoy and Jordan Petersen came into the WGIL studio to talk about how the 30-month program — which has worked with people facing prison sentences since 2008 — actually works, and why nobody is ever ordered into it. "You have to want to do this," McCoy said. Olivia McCoy and Jordan Petersen joined Galesburg's Morning News on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. Listen to the full interview above. They talked about: Why prosecution and defense sit on the same team every week What it takes to graduate from the program The "clean, sober fun" events that bring clients back together with their families What's on the table for Saturday's Quarter Auction — 200-plus prizes and counting How the community can support the program beyond Saturday Related story: Inside Knox County Drug Court: a 30-month program built on 'wanting it' 🎧 Subscribe to Galesburg's Morning News: Apple podcasts.apple.com | Spotify open.spotify.com
