Join Rob McConnell as he welcomes Bradley Lockerman, filmmaker, writer, director and executive producer of the 2009 documentary The John Searl Story. Lockerman created BKL Films and Keepers of the Earth LLC to bring the extraordinary story of British inventor John Roy Robert Searl to the screen. The documentary chronicles Searl's life and his controversial claims surrounding the Searl Effect Generator (SEG)—a magnetic device Searl maintained could produce energy and, under certain conditions, demonstrate extraordinary anti-gravity or “levity” effects. Lockerman had been investigating Searl's work since 1994, describing the inventor's account as one of the wildest stories he had ever encountered. According to Searl, ideas that eventually led to his technology began with recurring childhood dreams and later developed into experiments involving specially arranged magnetic rings and rollers. Searl claimed that some experimental devices unexpectedly lifted from the ground and flew away—claims that inspired comparisons with UFO-like flying discs and unconventional propulsion systems. The John Searl Story uses interviews, historical material and dramatic reconstruction to examine Searl's life, his alleged generator, his “Law of the Squares,” and attempts to reconstruct the controversial technology. Lockerman served as the film's director, writer, executive producer and director of photography. The documentary includes Searl himself along with engineer and computer specialist Fernando Morris, John A. Thomas Jr., and Richard Vere Compton, identified in the credits as a witness to Searl technology.
