Description
he Chicago Bears opened 2026 by dropping 59 points, 552 yards and eight offensive touchdowns on the Carolina Panthers â and suddenly Ben Johnsonâs goal of chasing the NFL scoring record doesnât sound completely insane.
Caleb Williams finished 21-of-29 for 269 yards and 2 passing TDs, while adding 65 rushing yards and 2 more scores. DâAndre Swift celebrated his new extension with 124 rushing yards and 3 TDs, while Kyle Monangai added 100 yards and a 61-yard touchdown.
But the defense allowed 37 points and 478 yards, raising the bigger question: if Chicagoâs offense is truly elite, how good does Dennis Allenâs defense actually need to be?
Haize breaks down the studs, duds, historic offensive potential, defensive concerns and what Week 2 against Minnesota could reveal.
