We lift up the cross because what looked like defeat becomes victory and what looked like God’s absence becomes the clearest proof of God’s love. We talk about where we look when life hurts and how Christ meets us inside the suffering we cannot fix.

• why Christianity names the wound without letting it become the whole story 
• exalting what God can do with suffering rather than praising pain 
• the pattern of surrender before exaltation and cross before resurrection 
• the temptation to want Jesus close enough to comfort us but not change us 
• the personal question of trust and the fear of surrendering one guarded area 
• Christ entering the cross when he does not remove it 
• a simple practice before leaving: look at the crucifix and bring him what you carry 
So before we leave church today, I want you to do something very simple. Look at the crucifix.
