ClemsonVOCFB Postgame LIVE Notes
Clemson 22, Georgia Southern 7 Hosts: Jordan Bowman & Edward “Tiger Paw” Craven (TPC) Show: Sunday afternoon postgame (delayed from Saturday night) Final: Clemson 22, Georgia Southern 7
Open / Housekeeping
~1:11–5:00
- Jordan: “Well, that was a game that happened. Clemson 22, Georgia Southern 7.”
- Delayed the usual late-night postgame; members-only watch-along already ran Saturday night and both hosts were fading.
- First Sunday Clemson postgame live on the channel.
- Chat: Keep Chopping — “congrats… that one got a little hairy.” Show Out — “they got to make tape to start the rest of the year.” Dr. Chef was at the game: “it was awful.”
Defense — The Main Positive
~5:47–12:30
What they liked
- Defense “acquitted themselves pretty well” vs. an inferior opponent after the LSU demolition.
- Georgia Southern’s only TD: busted coverage. Elliot Washington fell; Ronan Hannafin didn’t rotate. “Should have been made.”
- Front seven: consistent pressure. Three-DE packages a theme because DT room is thin.
- Standouts: Will Helt (big day), Jaheim Lawson, London Merritt.
- LBs flying around. Secondary still a strength: Ashton Hampton (near circus INT), Corey Myrick physical, Hannafin flashing with mistakes.
Numbers they hammered
- Georgia Southern: 22 rush yards on 18 carries (1.2 YPC).
- “Anytime you hold any team to 22 yards rushing, that’s a pretty good day for your front seven.” Asterisk: it’s Georgia Southern.
- Only 7 points allowed, and that one score was the coverage bust.
Caveats
- Not a “lights out rest of the year” tape. LSU still hangs over them.
- GS QB missed some throws that could have been chunk plays.
- First ACC game next week (North Carolina) is the real test.
- After LSU’s 300+ rush yards (a lot in the first half), this was the bounce-back they needed: edge, fire, guys hyping each other.
TPC bottom line: DL got consistent pressure; back end looks improved from last year. Still expect struggles down the stretch.
Special Teams — Why the Score Wasn’t Closer
~12:30–15:20
- Nolan Hauser: 5-for-5 FGs. “Main source of offense last night.”
- Punting (Jackson) solid. Muff-punt recovery (Jackson Reach cited).
- Bryant Wesco: big return, but both hosts still hate him returning punts. Too valuable on offense; high-risk play. Coaches (and Wesco) don’t agree.
- Special teams “the only reason the score was as wide as it was.”
Offense — Skill Players (the other positives)
~15:20–17:10
- TJ Moore: 7 catches, TD. Main target. One play he’d like back.
- Tyler Brown: healthy, comfortable. Big 3rd-down conversion from Tate (settled past the sticks). “He’s good at football.” Takes pressure off younger WRs.
- Screens blocked up better than expected; served as run-game extensions (Chad Morris package).
Quarterback Situation
~17:10–31:40
Christopher Vazzana
- Left with left-arm numbness; already scheduled to see a doctor on the elbow. Tried to go back in; Dabo shut it down (“you can’t play if you can’t feel one of your arms”).
- Only ~3 drives. Nice TD throw to TJ Moore (after muff punt put them in the red zone). Ugly INT: wrong read, safety sitting there the whole time — “expect a fourth-year player not to throw that.”
- Uncomfortable, short thro
