Back to EpisodesCOWBOYS v GIANTS | Post-Game Show | In the Shed
Description
Welcome to In the Shed, the new Cowboys postgame show presented by The Shedfather. This is not a conventional episode of In the Building. Mike and Rudy are jumping on after Cowboys games all season to react while everything is still fresh, and unfortunately the first one begins with Dallas getting handled 28-20 by the New York Giants.
The biggest problem is obvious: the Cowboys defense was awful. New York piled up 29 first downs and possessed the football for 37 minutes, leaving Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense with only 23 minutes to work. The guys get into Christian Parker’s debut as defensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer’s leadership, John Harbaugh’s immediate impact on the Giants, Jackson Dart’s impressive night and the same old Cowboys problems with penalties and discipline.

Key Moments:
- Mike opens with a simple question: is 20 points in only 23 minutes of possession good? That sets up the entire conversation about how badly the Dallas defense let the offense down.
- The Giants control the football for 37 minutes and collect 29 first downs, leaving Mike stunned that a defense expected to improve looked every bit as bad as last season.
- Rudy praises Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy for repeatedly attacking what Dallas couldn’t stop, while Christian Parker never finds an answer.
- Mike and Rudy see a massive difference between John Harbaugh’s Giants and Brian Schottenheimer’s Cowboys, leading to a long conversation about coaching, discipline and the culture Jerry Jones has built.
- Javonte Williams scores late but immediately gets hit with a taunting penalty. The guys hate the rule but hammer Dallas for committing another avoidable penalty anyway.
- Jackson Dart gets plenty of credit. The Cowboys defense helped him, but Rudy believes Dart looked more polished and made throws he wasn’t consistently making before.
- Mike is not abandoning his 12-win prediction after one game, but admits the Cowboys defense made that prediction look pretty damn rough on opening night.
- Pelón actually watched the entire Cowboys game, but apparently nobody thought to ask him what he thought until the show was almost over.
- The first In the Shed ends with the reminder that it’s Week 1. Dallas looked terrible, but the NFL gets weird fast, and the crew will be back after the next Cowboys game.
Final Thoughts:
The first night in the Shed was supposed to be about starting a new Cowboys tradition. Instead, it became group therapy after Dallas’ defense got pushed around for four quarters. It’s only Week 1, but if the Cowboys want this season to beco
