The Watchers & The Corruption Before The Flood
Season 1
Episode 57
Published 1 month ago
Description
Genesis 6 may describe something far larger than the story of angels producing giants.
In Part One of this two-part investigation, we examine who the Watchers were, why the “sons of God” in Genesis 6 were understood as heavenly beings, what happened when they produced the Nephilim, and why Scripture eventually says that “all flesh had corrupted its way.”
Using Genesis, Daniel, Job, Jude, 1 Enoch, and the Book of Jubilees, we follow the rebellion from its beginning to Mount Hermon, the oath of the Watchers, the rise of giant offspring, Azazel’s forbidden teachings, escalating violence, and the possibility that the corruption reached beyond humanity into the created order itself.
Could the Flood have been more than judgment against human sin? Could it also have been a cleansing of a world whose God-given boundaries had been violently overturned?
And what exactly survived when the giants died?
That question leads directly into Part Two.
