Back to EpisodesA Conversation with Jeffery Lee: an Incarcerated Man on Death Row Awaiting Execution in 4 Days
Description
In this bonus episode of the podcast, I sat down with Jeffery Lee, an incarcerated man who has been on Alabama's death row for 26 years, despite the fact that his jury never voted for a death sentence. The state of Alabama plans to execute Mr. Lee in 4 days on September 17 despite the fact that his jury never sentenced him to death and the law used to impose the death penalty has been abolished by Alabama and every single US state since 2017.
In our conversation Jeffery shares more about his life before death row, about his faith, about his heros (his son and father), and more about his life and what gives him meaning and hope. Please find some calls to actions below to help make a difference. Every call, every share on social media helps. Jeffery's life matters. Together, we are powerful.

The jury's verdict recommended life in prison for Jeffery, but the trial judge rejected the verdict and imposed the death sentence. This is known as judicial override, a law that the state of Alabama abolished in 2017 because it is so unjust. Jeffery is a man of faith, a mentor and leader, and a force for positive change and support amongst his community within death row, and his loved ones, as well. He leads with compassion, humility, and grace and his spirit and character inspire others to find courage, hope and change for the better despite all odds. Thank you for tuning in and being here, to not only learn more about Jeffery as a person and his life, but also how you can participate to help save his life.
