There was a time when Alicia was sleeping in a shelter on Skid Row, trying to figure out how to survive with everything she had known falling apart. After an unstable childhood, an emotionally damaging marriage, the loss of her baby, and ultimately losing her home, car, and job, Alicia found herself at what looked like rock bottom.
But rock bottom wasn't the end of her story.
With the encouragement of a woman named Miss Ruth, a laundry basket, a donated blender, and a willingness to keep moving forward, Alicia began rebuilding her life one small act at a time. What started as laundry and lunch eventually became two real businesses—including a food operation approaching six figures in annual revenue. Yet Alicia will tell you that the money isn't her greatest accomplishment.
Her heart is in Plates to Hearts, a mission built around feeding people physically while reminding them that they still matter emotionally and spiritually. Her story is a powerful reminder that your circumstances may shape part of your story, but they do not have to decide how it ends.
This is Alicia's testimony of survival, faith, rebuilding, entrepreneurship, service, and discovering purpose on the other side of pain.
