Love, chickens and Chaucer: the couple bringing a ‘beasty babel fable’ to Bordon
Published 1 month ago
Description
James Coutsavlis and Izzy Mckenty are a couple on and off stage, and together they’re taking on a whirlwind cast of characters in Chauntecleer & Pertelotte.
Very loosely inspired by Chaucer’s Nun’s Priest’s Tale, the award-winning comedy involves anthropomorphic chickens, a faithless cockerel, a jilted hen bent on revenge and some decidedly unusual language.
Laura Sheppard talks to James and Izzy about playing multiple characters at breakneck speed, the strange world created by writer Dougie Blaxland and what happens when your co-star is also the person you go home with.
