A man riding in a Tesla cab says the doors suddenly locked and the car rerouted itself while flashing police lights closed in, taking him straight to Austin Police Station, where officers scanned him and claimed an instant match to a decades-old database he swears he has never seen. He sits stunned in the back as the screen keeps driving and the vehicle refuses to let him out, raising hard questions about how far autonomous systems and facial-recognition tech can go when a ride can turn into an unscheduled detention. Technology is getting scary when a cab can detain you, lock the doors, and deliver you like cargo.
