Episode Details

Victoria’s police force is set to grow by 1,500 officers in a bold bid to combat rising crime, with a new training academy planned to speed up recruitment and close the growing gap left by pandemic-era cuts. Premier Ben Carroll insists the expansion will proceed regardless of election outcome, while the opposition counters with a pledge for 3,000 more cops and reopened stations. Despite a recent dip in overall crime, levels remain far higher than pre-pandemic, and even police union leaders are backing the push — seeing it as essential to restore public safety and faster response times.
