5.9 Earthquake Shakes Northern Australia | Perth News
Description
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake rattled homes across northern Australia Friday night, felt from Darwin to the far north — initially misread as a 6.1 but later corrected. Occurring 73km deep off Timor’s coast, it followed a smaller 5.2 quake earlier that day, hinting at regional seismic activity. No major damage or injuries reported, thanks to its offshore epicenter — a stark reminder that our planet’s restless movements are never far from home.
