Three of the Strangest Encounters We’ve Ever Found

Description

Small figures in red inside an old house. A stranger in the back seat who becomes something else in the witness’s account. And a woman who describes meeting a man called Pilate—before producing an X-ray she believes supports her story. This week on Stories Lost, we follow three encounters that left their witnesses searching for explanations long after the events were over.In eastern France in June 1970, children reported seeing small, pot-bellied figures moving through an old farmhouse. Their attempts to find the visitors led them through empty rooms and open doors, until a strange grey animal appeared at an upper window. A local teacher began asking questions, but the events that followed made the property itself another part of the mystery. In Crimea in 2001, a father and daughter stopped for a young man asking for a lift. He was strikingly beautiful, drank water almost constantly, and seemed preoccupied with a small box. Before the journey was over, the daughter’s recollections had become a series of disconnected scenes—and she had stopped referring to their passenger as a man.And in Kirov in 1991, a different woman, also named Irina, described waking in an unfamiliar room and being led through an encounter she could neither understand nor control. One man eventually gave her a name: Pilate. Years later, researcher Alexey Priyma published her account alongside a drawing attributed to her and an X-ray containing a small pale mark whose significance remained disputed. What did these witnesses experience? And how far can we follow their stories before the surviving evidence runs out?Chapters00:00 Introduction01:40 The Figures in Red — France, 197002:24 Someone at the Window03:10 The Search Inside the House05:12 The Strange Grey Animal07:22 The Teacher and the Children’s Drawings08:22 The Fire and the Missing Bicycle12:13 The Crimean Hitchhiker — 200113:19 The Passenger and the Box15:34 The Abandoned Petrol Station17:33 Alien or Hypnotist?18:54 Irina’s Account — Kirov, 199119:36 The Unfamiliar Room20:17 The Hall and the Moving Chair23:35 “I Am Pilate”23:58 Alexey Priyma’s Investigation25:19 The X-Ray26:16 The Proposed Operation28:58 Final ThoughtsSourcesLumières dans la Nuit, no. 113, August 1971 — “Une étrange affaire,” pp. 16–19.Le Parisien libéré, May 24, 1971 — early newspaper coverage of the children’s encounter and the subsequent fire, prepared in collaboration with Lumières dans la Nuit.UFO Navigator, no. 18, August 2001 — “Alien or Hypnotist?”, publishing Irina’s letter about the Crimean encounter.Alexey Konstantinovich Priyma, Vnezemlyane idut!
