From Pilot to PTSD Warrior | Wilmington News
Description
When Matthew Buckley was set to debut as a commercial pilot on 9/11/01, he pivoted from passenger jets to fighter planes after the Twin Towers attacks — racing to a naval air station, armed and ready. His career in aviation ended after one flight, but his combat mindset propelled him to Wall Street’s trading floor. Yet, years of loss — sixteen fallen comrades from flying, four more Navy brothers by suicide — left deep scars. Seeking healing, he traveled to Mexico for psychedelic-assisted therapy with SEALs, finally processing grief and PTSD. Today, he leads the No Fallen Heroes Foundation, funding veteran retreats and advocating for trauma treatments that show promise beyond traditional methods.
