Data Update 1 for 2024: The data speaks, but what is it saying?

Data Update 1 for 2024: The data speaks, but what is it saying?

Published 1 month ago
Description

Every year, I start by updating data on my webpage on industry averages on variables that I find myself using in my corporate financial analysis and valuation, and since there is no cost to sharing, you are welcome to use this data as well. This year's dataset includes 47,698 publicly traded companies in 134 countries, and the averages cover risk, accounting return, profitability, leverage and dividend variables. I explain some of the choices that I make in computing these industry statistics, and suggest some caveats (which you are welcome to ignore). You are welcome to use this data and I hope you find it useful!
