The Phoenix Suns have been dealt a serious blow as presumed starting center Mark Williams underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum and is expected to miss at least five months. With Williams sidelined for an indefinite period of time, the team faces serious questions about the center position and what it will do to make up for his massive absence.

Is Khaman Maluach ready to step into a much larger role? PHNX Suns’ Gil and Stephen discuss the news before taking a look at Maluach’s ability to help Phoenix reach its goals for the 2026-27 season. The team has taken a measured approach to Maluach’s workload and development up to this point, but this is an opportunity for the soon-to-be 20-year-old to prove he is up to the task.
