Description
Episode 642 takes a more serious turn as the guys reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11. Mike, Rudy and John remember where they were when the attacks happened, the fear and uncertainty that followed, and how 9/11 continues to affect them decades later. Mike revisits Tom Junod’s The Falling Man and the haunting mystery surrounding the unidentified man in the famous photograph.
Mike also tells the story of Welles Crowther, the Man in the Red Bandana, the former Boston College lacrosse player who repeatedly went back to help people escape the World Trade Center. Then the show shifts back to football, where Mike, Rudy and John make their weekend picks with something important on the line: the winner gets the big bed when the crew spends the night at the San Antonio Zoo.

- The guys remember Welles Crowther, whose red bandana became the identifying detail in survivor accounts of the young man who repeatedly helped others escape before losing his own life.
- Rudy gives the NFL a People I Want to Punch for sending a division game to Australia, while Mike argues the Rams essentially mailed in the trip and gives them his Reach Around for sending a message to the league.
- The weekend football picks become a legitimate competition because the winner gets the big bed during ITB’s upcoming overnight stay at the San Antonio Zoo. The other two are left fighting over the remaining sleeping arrangements.
- On Texas-Ohio State, Rudy takes Ohio State to cover while still predicting a one-point Texas win. Mike goes further and picks Ohio State to win outright, while John rides with the Longhorns.
- Mike and Rudy both take Houston outright against Buffalo, while John goes with the Bills. Mike even says a Cowboys-Texans Super Bowl would not completely shock him.
- Mike takes Kansas City to cover against Denver, while another pick backs the Broncos outright despite still having Kansas City as a Super Bowl team.
- The crew announces a postgame show after Texas-Ohio State and reminds everyone that Sunday night brings the debut of In the Shed, the Cowboys postgame show presented by The Shedfather.
