Three pieces of debris from the World Trade Centre have been donated to the War Memorial's September 11 display by Australian first responder Major David Bergman. Major Bergman joined emergency workers in the harrowing search for missing people at Ground Zero and worked alongside police officers who lost colleagues in the attacks. Every September, he speaks to the officers he met during the rescue efforts, though he has never returned to New York since that day.
