Luke Sayers apologises to ex-wife over photo scandal

Former Carlton AFL club president Luke Sayers has issued an unreserved apology to his ex-wife Cate Sayers following a defamation lawsuit over an explicit photo scandal. The case was settled privately in a three-minute Supreme Court hearing in which Sayers acknowledged the extreme hurt caused by suggesting Cate had posted the explicit image to his social media account in January 2025. Cate Sayers had sued her ex-husband for defamation after he allegedly made false claims about her responsibility for the post in a statutory declaration to the AFL.
