Back to EpisodesAmen Thompson’s $208M Bet: Is He Worth It for the Rockets?
Description
The Houston Rockets are betting $208 million on Amen Thompson. Will it pay off?
Tyler Metcalf of No Ceilings joins CP The Fanchise to break down Amen's 5-year extension and what Houston is really betting on with the 23-year-old guard.
Amen is already an elite defender, rebounder and athlete, but his shooting and scoring remain major questions. Tyler explains why Amen's growth as a playmaker could be just as important as his jumper — and how Houston can maximize him alongside Fred VanVleet and Kevin Durant.
Plus, CP The Fanchise and Tyler discuss Marcus Smart's fit, Jabari Smith Jr.'s development, Tari Eason's defensive upside and what the Rockets still need to compete with the best teams in the Western Conference.
Is $208 million too much — or could this contract eventually look like a bargain?
