Heart disease misdiagnosis crisis in Australian women
Published 3 weeks, 3 days ago
Description
One woman dies every hour in Australia from heart disease, yet warning signs are frequently missed or misdiagnosed. Women are 50 per cent more likely than men to have heart attacks misdiagnosed, with symptoms like breathlessness, fatigue, nausea and jaw pain often overlooked. A special ministerial panel is now examining gaps in care after Olympic champion Libby Trickett was sent home with anxiety when she was actually experiencing a heart attack at age 40.
