Local businesses and police oversight snubbed in city council vote

Willy Street businesses seeking financial relief from the city were disappointed Tuesday night, when the Common Council voted against allocating funds to help those that were most impacted by the Corey Ruiz memorial encampment.
The resolution’s narrow defeat was followed by a rejection of additional funding for the Office of the Independent Police Monitor.
