I spoke too soon 

We use this when we say something that seems true at the time, but very soon afterward, something happens that proves us wrong.

It often has a slightly humorous feeling.

You’re basically saying:

“Okay… I said that a little too early.”

Example:

Imagine you’re traveling with a friend.

You’ve been worried about the weather all week, but when you wake up, the sky is completely clear.

You look outside and say:

“See? The weather is perfect. We worried for nothing.”

Twenty minutes later, dark clouds appear.

Then it starts pouring.

You look at your friend and say:

“Okay. I spoke too soon.”
