DMV: Steve Hilton Pledges to Abolish California’s DMV
Description
Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton announced a proposal to eliminate the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) as a standalone state agency if he is elected governor. He unveiled the plan during a campaign event in West Hollywood.
The GOP's first-ever midterm convention in Dallas is intended to rally Republicans ahead of November's elections and showcase the Trump administration's agenda. However, the decision by several vulnerable Republican candidates to skip the event highlights concerns within the party about how closely they should align themselves with Trump in competitive races.
